Mine Scarred Lands
Information about specific sites and their classification as mine scarred lands, abandoned mine lands, and acid mine drainage sites can be found on the AMList by submitting a FOIA request to the WVDEP Office of Abandoned Mine Lands and Reclamation (http://www.dep.state.wv.us)

Mine-scarred lands (MSLs) are defined as lands, associated waters, and surrounding watersheds where extraction, beneficiation, or processing of ores and minerals (including coal) has occurred.
