State Funding:
From the WV Development Office (WVDO):
  • Governor's Community Partnership Program - Provides grants up to $50,000 to counties and municipalities for community enhancements, including parks and recreation amenities. The program allows local government entities to sponsor nonprofit organizations seeking to apply for funds.
  • Land and Water Conservation Fund - Federal funding for the acquisition or development of land for recreational use. Eligible applicants include local governments, park boards and commissions, and state agencies. Applicants must acquire a 50% match.
  • The WV Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council - Grants are awarded to government entities for activities like land acquisition and infrastructure development for projects that are "likely to foster and enhance economic growth and development." Application requirements and instructions can be accessed from the "Application Process" section of their website.

From WV Department Of Transportation (WVDOT):
  • Recreational Trail Program - Designed to develop "livable communities," this program grants funds nonprofit organizations and government bodies. The DOT allocates this federal funding on the premise that applicants have secured a 20% match in funds.   • Transportation Enhancement Program - Follows most of the guidelines as the Recreational Trails Program, but is only eligible to government bodies.
